CRT

An abbreviation for cathode ray tube. A device in which a finely focused beam of electrons scans the phosphor coated front surface of a picture tube causing changes in brightness according to the current flow in the beam. Multiple beams can energize different colored phosphors for color video displays. Used in direct view televisions and projection units.
